UW-L Finishes Third at Huston Invite; Laabs Places Eighth

Waverly, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's cross country team finished third at the 11th Annual Dan Huston Invitational Saturday afternoon at Wartburg College. The Eagles placed third with 90 team points while Augustana, Ill. took the team title with 37 points and UW-Platteville was second with 43.

Carleton, Minn. finished fourth (132) while Wartburg was fifth (133). Cornell, Iowa (134), Northern Iowa (193), Loras, Iowa (220), Simpson, Iowa (247) and North Iowa Community College (264) rounded out the top-10. A total of 12 teams competed.

The Eagles' Bobby Laabs placed eighth overall with a time of 26:16 on the 8,000-meter course. UW-L had six other runners finish in the top-30, including Josh Dedering placing 18th (26:28) and Broc Vike 19th (26:32). Chris Glibert was 21st (26:40) while Mark Punzenberger placed 24th (26:46), Michael Behringer was 25th (26:49) and Mike Miller finished 26th (26:50).

Kaiser Behnke finished 32nd (26:56) overall while Dan Buvid was 42nd (27:08), Thomas Reader 49th (27:15) and Eric Smits 53rd (27:21).

Other finishers for UW-L included Dayton Lueck 68th (27:37), Josh Kaul 72nd (27:40) and Jordan Buczek 180th (31:07). A total of 206 runners participated.
