UW-L Places Third at Get to the Point Invite; Diehl Wins Event

Stevens Point, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team placed third at the Get to the Point Invite Saturday night at UW-Stevens Point. The Eagles recorded 605 team points while UW-Stevens Point was first with 1,091. Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) was second, scoring 821.5 points. Minnesota State, Mankato University finished fourth (591.5) followed by UW-Eau Claire (384), UW-Whitewater (173) and UW-Oshkosh (35).

UW-L's Matt Diehl captured the 100 breaststroke (59.81) while placing second in the 200 I.M. (2:00.71) and fifth in the 200 breaststroke (2:15.96).

Justin Dembski was third in the 1,650 freestyle (16:48.36), fourth in the 500 freestyle (4:49.95) and fifth in the 200 freestyle (1:48.13). Spencer Loch placed third in the 50 (22.08) and 100 freestyle (48.01) while finishing eighth in the 200 freestyle (1:50.55).

Casey Borden finished fourth in the 100 (56.13) and 200 (2:03.83) backstrokes. He also recorded a ninth-place finish in the 200 I.M. (2:04.40).

Kurt Zehel eighth (5:04.81) in the 500 freestyle and eighth in the 200 butterfly (2:13.11).

In diving, Trey Edgerle placed fourth in the 1-meter competition (354.95 points) while Patrick Schulze was eighth (321.50) and Casey Chamberlain ninth (315.60). Edgerle was also seventh in the 3-meter (360.70) while Chamberlain finished 11th (312.25) and Schulze 15th (270.25).

The Eagles' 200 freestyle relay was second (1:26.47) while the 400 freestyle relay placed third (3:13.70) and 800 freestyle relay fourth (7:23.23). The 200 medley relay was also fourth (1:40.10).
