UW-L Competes at UW-Platteville Invite; Riley Wins Shot Put and Discus

Platteville, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse men's track & field team continued its outdoor season at the UW-Platteville Invitational Friday night. No team scores were kept.

The Eagles had five individuals win titles Friday night, including Bobby Riley who captured two events. He won the shot put (54-8 1/4) and discus throw (169-2). David Stauder took the high jump (6-5 1/2).

On the track, Matt Gordy won the 100-meter dash (10.83), Dallas Vincent the 5,000-meter run (14:38.03) and Sean Harrington the 10,000-meter run (31:54.63). UW-L also took the 4x400-meter relay (3:20.35).

Other top finishers in the field events included Andy Novak placing second (52-6) and Bill Warren fifth (49-6 1/2) in the shot put while Luke Crowley was third in the discus throw (160-9). Jeremiah Burish finished fifth in the pole vault (14-9) while Al Chery was fifth (6-3 1/2) and Clark Lundquist tied for sixth (6-1 1/2) in the high jump.

On the track, Gordy was second in the 200-meter dash (22.40) while Alex Rooker finished third in the 200-meter dash (22.36) and sixth in the 100-meter dash (11.06). UW-L had three second-place finishers on the track Friday, including Brad Peterson in the 400-meter hurdles (54.21), Ben Plankis in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:06.61) and Zach Wilhelmy in the 5,000-meter run (14:38.77). Connor Lonning was sixth in the 5,000-meter run (14:55.80).

In the 400-meter dash, Paul Yerhot finished third (49.71) and Ryan Mendez sixth (50.16) while Mitch Wilson placed sixth in the 800-meter run (1:56.86). The Eagles' Paul Zdroik was third in the 1,500-meter run (3:56.31) and Dan Buvid fourth in the 10,000-meter run (32:59.11).

UW-L also finished fourth in the 4x100-meter relay (42.81).
