UW-L Finishes 29th at NCAA III Championships

Oshkosh, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men’s track & field team finished in a tie for 29th-place Saturday at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. The Eagles totaled 10.0 team points.

McMurry University (Texas) captured the national title with 35.0 points while State University of New York-Cortland was second with 33.0 and Whitworth College (Wash.) third with 31.0. Mount Union College (Ohio) finished fourth with 27.0 points while Wartburg College (Iowa) and the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) tied for fifth with 25.0 points.

UW-Oshkosh, St. John’s University (Minn.) and Emory University (Ga.) all tied for seventh with 23.0 points while Monmouth College (Ill.) was 10 th with 22.0. A total of 81 teams scored points.

Bobby Riley and Jessie Dengsavang both competed in field events Saturday for UW-L. Riley threw 48-3 ½ in the shot put preliminaries while Dengsavang went 46-0 ¾ in the triple jump prelims.

Riley earned All-America honors Thursday placing third in the discus throw at 167-9. It was his sixth career All- America award, including third outdoors. He placed second in the shot put and third in the discus throw a year ago. Riley has three indoor All-America accolades, including two shot put national titles (2007, 2008). He placed seventh in the shot put in 2005.
