UW-L Wins Fighting Scot Invite; Lee and Dengsavang Capture Individual Titles

Monmouth, Ill. - The UW-La Crosse men's track & field team captured the nine-team Monmouth College Fighting Scot Invitational Saturday night in Monmouth, Illinois. The Eagles finished with 137.0 team points while Monmouth (Ill.) was second with 109.0. Washington University, Mo. placed third (100.83) followed by Central College, Iowa (70.0) and Greenville College, Ill. (63.33) to round-out the top-five.
UW-L's Zach Lee and Jessie Dengsavang earned individual titles Saturday as Lee won the 200-meter dash (22.59) and Dengsavang the triple jump (46-2). Lee was also fourth in the 55-meter dash (6.56) while teammate Alex Rooker placed fifth (6.62).
Other top finishes on the track included Matt Gordy placing second in the 55 (6.43) and 200 (22.63) meter dashes.
The Eagles had three of the top-five runners in the 400-meter dash as Phil Yerhot placed third (50.77), Terrance Thigpen fourth (50.97) and Ryan Mendez fifth (51.01). Mitch Wilson was fifth in the 800-meter run (1:58.47) while Josh Kaul placed third in the 3,000-meter run (9:00.44) and Broc Vike finished second in the 5,000-meter run (15:48.29). UW-L's Jamar Jackson was third in the 55-meter hurdles (7.69).
In the field events, Aaron Johnson finished second (55-1) and Luke Crowley third (53-3 1/2) in the weight throw while Jeremiah Burish placed second (14-11) and Jason Prochnow fifth (14-5 1/4) in the pole vault.
Bill Warren was third in the shot put (49-5 1/2) and Clark Lundquist third in the high jump (6-5 1/2).
