UW-L Competes at Wisconsin Twilight; Peterson Wins Hurdles Event

Madison, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse men's track & field team competed at the University of Wisconsin Twilight Open Saturday at Dan McClimon Memorial Track/Soccer Complex. No team scores were kept.
The Eagles' Brad Peterson captured the 400-meter hurdles with an NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 53.58.
UW-L's 4x400-meter relay of Ryan Mendez, Peterson, Terrence Thigpen and Paul Yerhot also finished first with a national provisional qualifying time of 3:16.77.
Matt Gordy was second in the 100-meter dash (10.75) while Yerhot finished fourth (10.81) and Alex Rooker seventh (11.01). Gordy provisionally qualified for the national meet with his second-place time. Michael Marchese was seventh (57.06) and Luke Ackerson 13th (1:00.44) in the 400-meter hurdle preliminaries while Mendez placed eighth in the 400-meter dash (50.49) final.
The Eagles' 4x100-meter placed second in the invitational race with a provisional qualifying time of 41.33. In the scheduled 4x100-meter relay, UW-L was second (41.96).
Two individuals recorded second-place finishes in the field events for UW-L Saturday. Bill Warren was second in the shot put (51-11) while Jeremiah Burish finished second in the pole vault (15-1 3/4). Warren provisionally qualified for the NCAA III Championships with his mark in the shot put.
Other top finishes in the field events included Jason Prochnow tying for fourth in the pole vault (14-2 3/4) while Al Chery was fourth in the high jump (6-4). Luke Crowley finished fifth in the discus (152-3) and Nick Stone was seventh in the long jump (21-11).
