UW-L Finishes Third at UW-Eau Claire Invite; Garcia and Dorn Place Second

Eau Claire, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse wrestling team placed third at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational Saturday afternoon in McPhee Physical Education Center. The Eagles finished with 76.0 team points while Augsburg College, Minn. was first with 131.5 and UW-Stevens Point second with 117.5. A total of 11 teams competed.
UW-L's Justin Garcia and Bobby Dorn both placed second Saturday. Garcia went 2-1 at 141-pounds, falling to Chase Decleene of UW-Stevens Point by decision (3-2) in the title match. Dorn finished 3-1 overall with a victory by fall at 149-pounds. He lost by decision (8-4) to Zach Hansen of Augsburg College in the championship match.
Three other wrestlers placed in the top-four Saturday for the Eagles. Dan Schulte (174-pounds) and Brenden Faust (197) both finished third as Schulte went 4-1 and Faust 3-1. Schulte defeated Dennis Reckelberg of UW-Stevens Point by decision (4-2) in the third-place match at 174 while Faust won by decision (10-3) over the Pointers' Brandon Jochem for third-place at 197.
UW-L's Albie McKinney finished fourth at 125-pounds, losing by fall (1:47) to Seth Flodeen of Augsburg in the third-place match. McKinney was 2-2 overall.
Other results included Pat Parrillo going 1-2 and Gus Green 0-2 at 133-pounds for the Eagles. Kevin Barber finished 1-2 at 141-pounds; Nolan Hammel 2-2 at 157; Jeff Erkel 0-2 at 165 and Jake Gosch 2-2 at 174.
