Laurent Named WIAC Wrestler of the Week

Madison, Wis. – University of Wisconsin-La Crosse junior Dan Laurent of Mishicot (H.S.) has been selected the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Wrestler of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday. It marks the second time this season Laurent has earned the honor (Nov. 11).

Laurent went 3-0 last week to improve to 26-5 on the season. Ranked seventh in NCAA Division III, Laurent defeated fourth-ranked Andrew Witzel of Augsburg College (Minn.) Jan. 25 by major decision (9-1).

He opened the week with a win by fall (:41) over Lawrence University’s John Fitzpatrick and by decision (7-2) over UW-Oshkosh's Jason Laplante Jan. 22.

UW-L returns to action Tuesday, Jan. 27 hosting UW-Eau Claire at 6:30 p.m. in the Eagles' final home match of the season.
