UW-L Wins Third Straight with Victory at UW-Oshkosh

Oshkosh, Wis. – The UW-La Crosse women's basketball team earned its third straight win and seventh in the last eight with a 52-48 victory at UW-Oshkosh Saturday night in Kolf Sports Center. The Eagles improve to 12-4 overall and 4-3 in the WIAC while the Titans fall to 6-10 overall and 1-7 in the conference.
UW-L raced out to a 19-5 lead with 12:01 left in the first half as Mackenzie Hunter scored 10 points. The Eagles led 27-20 at halftime before the Titans came back to take their first lead of the game at 34-31 with 16:09 remaining. UW-L's Melissa Lang tied the contest at 34-34 with a three-pointer before UW-Oshkosh led 39-36 with 10:35 left. The Titans led 46-43 with 4:39 remaining when the Eagles finished the game on a 9-2 run. Anna Halat hit a jumper to cut the lead to 46-45 with 3:34 left and Dana Churchill gave the Eagles a one point lead on a layup with 2:41 remaining.
Hunter hit one-of-two free throws with 1:53 left to make it 48-46 and Churchill hit two free throws with :26 remaining. After Taylor Larson hit a free throw for UW-L for a five-point lead with :12 left, UW-Oshkosh's Laura Ebbers made a layup with :08 remaining to cut the lead to 51-48. Churchill then hit one-of-two free throws with :04 left to secure the win.
UW-Oshkosh had four turnovers and four missed field goal attempts in its final eight possessions. The Titans missed their final five field goal attempts overall.
Hunter led UW-L with 17 points, finishing six-of-18 from the field, including two-of-five from three-point range. She was three-of-four at the free throw line and added seven rebounds. Churchill had 11 points and six rebounds for the Eagles while Lindsay Wahl finished with 10 points and five rebounds. Halat added six points and four rebounds.
UW-L shot 29.3% from the field, including 30.0% (three-of-10) from three-point range. The Eagles were 15-of-23 (65.2%) at the free throw line.
Michelle Boeder led UW-Oshkosh wiht 11 points while Ebbers had nine points and five rebounds. Shelby Churchill finished with eight points and five rebounds while Amber Goljenboom had seven points and five rebounds. The Titans shot 39.6% from the field, including 25.0% (three-of-12) from three-point range. The team was three-of-six (50.0%) at the line.
UW-L returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 21 hosting UW-River Falls at 7 p.m.
