UW-L Evens Conference Mark with Victory at UW-Platteville

Platteville, Wis. – The UW-La Crosse women's basketball team evened its Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) mark with an 72-62 victory at UW-Platteville Wednesday night at Bo Ryan Court. The Eagles improve to 11-4 overall and 3-3 in the conference while the Pioneers fall to 5-9 overall and 2-5 in the WIAC.
UW-L never trailed in the contest, racing out to a 15-6 lead with 13:12 remaining in the first half. The Pioneers later cut the lead to 18-10, but the Eagles scored the next eight points to take a 26-10 advantage. UW-L led 38-22 at halftime.
The Eagles led by as many as 23 points in the second half before the Pioneers cut the lead to eight with :34 left.
Mackenzie Hunter led UW-L with 24 points, finishing 10-of-17 from the field and four-of-four at the free throw line. She also finished with six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Dana Churchill added 11 points, going five-of-10 from the field and one-of-two at the line. Lindsay Wahl finished with nine points and eight rebounds while Amanda Waldvogel and Anna Halat each had seven points. Halat also had six rebounds, six assists and four steals. Melissa Lang tied for the team lead with eight rebounds.
UW-L shot 43.3% from the field, including 40.0% (two-of-five) from three-point range. The Eagles were 18-of-25 (72.0%) at the line and forced 22 UW-Platteville turnovers.
Stacia Nemitz led UW-Platteville with 15 points while Charity Stotmeister added 11 points. Both players finished with seven rebounds. Lisa Grantman had a game-high nine rebounds. The Pioneers shot 35.4% from the field, including 17.6% (three-of-17) from three-point range. The team was 13-of-20 (65.0%) at the line.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, Jan. 17 at UW-Oshkosh at 3 p.m.
