UW-L Wins All-American Invite; Perleberg Takes Individual Title

Decorah, Iowa – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's cross country squad started its 2009 season with a win at the Luther College All-American Invitational Saturday morning in Decorah. The Eagles finished with 41 team points while Luther was second with 45 and UW-Eau Claire third with 98.

Hamline University, Minn. placd fourth (101 points) followed by UW-River Falls (153), Iowa Central Community College (165), Grand View University, Iowa (170) and Luther Alumni (207).

UW-L, ranked seventh in this week's United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division III Poll, had three finishers in the top-five Saturday. Stephanie Perleberg claimed the individual crown with a time of 18:17 on the 5,000-meter course. Katelynn Williams placed second (18:52) for the Eagles while Alison Kolinski was fifth (19:24).

Rachel Boldt placed 15th (19:55) for UW-L while Ellen Kumm was 18th (19:59) and Karyn Genrich finished 19th (19:59).

Others finishing the top-50 for the Eagles included: Kayla La Porte 22nd (20:06); Zoe Browne 27th (20:12); Kriston Siemianowski 28th (20:12); Meghan Dugan 31st (20:25); Whitney Nefstead 34th (20:34); Mary Olson 35th (20:35); Kristin Lillie 36th (20:36); Corrina Jones 38th (20:37); Lauren Klesmith 39th (20:38); Megan Stats 43rd (20:47) and Shelly Joyce 47th (20:49).
