UW-L Places Third at Griak Invite

Minneapolis, Minn. The UW-La Crosse women's cross country team placed third at the Roy Griak Invitational Saturday morning at the University of Minnesota's Les Bolstad Golf Course. The Eagles finished with 160 team points. UW-Eau Claire took the team title with 110 points while Wartburg College, Iowa was second with 151.
Carleton College, Minn. placed fourth (170) followed the University of St. Thomas, Minn. fifth (183). Luther College, Iowa was sixth (202) followed by Bethel University, Minn. (217), St. Olaf College, Minn. (232), Washington & Lee, Va. (239) and UW-Stevens Point (277) to round-out the top 10. A total of 36 teams competed.
Megan Johnson was UW-L's top runner, placing 21st overall with a time of 23:32.58 on the 6,000-meter course. The Eagles' Michelle Horn was 28th overall (23:46.53) while Stephanie Perleberg placed 31st (23:48.93).
Other runners finishing in the top-50 included: Kristina Bennwitz 38th (23:53.83), Kayla La Porte 42nd (23:57.48), Lauren Moss 47th (24:02.63) and Katelynn Williams 50th (24:04.28). A total of 497 runners competed.
