UW-L Opens Season with Win at All-American Invite; Johnson Finishes Fourth

Decorah, Iowa – The UW-La Crosse women's cross country team opened its 2008 season with a victory at the Luther College All-American Invite Saturday morning in Decorah, Iowa. The Eagles finished with 33 team points while Luther College was second with 36. UW-River Falls placed third (83) with St. Catherine College, Minn. and St. Mary's University, Minn. tying for fourth (133) while Viterbo University, Wis. was sixth (176).

The Eagles had seven runners finish in the top-11, including Megan Johnson who placed fourth overall with a time of 19:27 on the 5,000-meter course. Katelynn Williams was fifth (19:31) for UW-L.

Lauren Moss placed seventh (19:32) for the Eagles while Kayla La Porte was eighth (19:36), Alison Kolinski ninth (19:37), Kristina Bennwitz 10th (19:39) and Michelle Horn 11th (19:42).

Other finishers in the top-50 included: Stephanie Perleberg 13th (19:50), Rachel Boldt 14th (19:52), Ellen Kumm 19th (20:03), Zoe Browne 20th (20:04), Whitney Nefstead 29th (20:18), Meghan Dugan 30th (20:19), Kriston Siemianowski 33rd (20:30), Courtney Rucker 38th (20:46), Kelsey Bauer 39th (20:47), Jenna Buss 41st (20:52) and Corrina Jones 44th (20:56).
