Clausen Selected to Academic All-District Second Team

La Crosse, Wis. – University of Wisconsin-La Crosse senior gymnast Kasey Clausen of Apple Valley, Minn. (H.S.) has been named to the 2008 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V College Division Women’s At-Large Second Team.
The team is comprised of all NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA student-athletes from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota and is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Eligible sports are fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
Clausen, majoring in secondary education and minoring in political science and economics with a 3.59 grade point average, was named the 2008 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Co-Scholar-Athlete.
A two-year team captain, Clausen earned her fourth career National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) All-America honor in 2008. She placed second on the uneven parallel bars with a score of 9.700. Clausen also finished 11th on the balance beam (9.150) at this year’s championships and helped lead the Eagles to their seventh national title in eight years. She was second on the uneven parallel bars, third on the vault and third in the all-around at the 2005 NCGA Championships to earn All-America accolades.
Clausen is a three-time All-WIAC performer, including a sixth-place finish on the uneven bars in 2008. She is a three-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll and has been recognized on UW-L’s Dean’s List every semester.
She is a member of the National Educator’s Association and Amnesty International USA. In addition, Clausen has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Girl Scouts, Food Shelf and UW-L’s Peer Run Education Program.
