UW-L Defeats Hamline in Home Opener; Hooper Wins Vault and Floor Exercise

La Crosse, Wis. – The UW- La Crosse gymnastics squad earned an 176.950-174.500 dual victory over Hamline University (Minn.) Tuesday night in Mitchell Hall in the Eagles' home opener.
UW-L's Gabi Hooper won two individual events Tuesday, capturing the vault (9.550) and floor exercise (9.250).
The Eagles' Jackie LaFleur placed second (35.725) and Kelsey Matula third (35.200) in the all-around. LaFleur was also second on the uneven parallel bars (8.525) and third on the vault (9.450) and floor exercise (9.050). Matula finished fourth on the uneven parallel bars (8.475) and fifth on the vault (9.250) and balance beam (8.825).
Courtney Gonzales was second on the floor exercise (9.175), third on the balance beam (9.025) and fourth on the vault (9.375).
Other top finishes included Jamie Shervey third on the uneven parallel bars (8.500) and Mackenzie Howard tied for fifth on the balance beam (9.000).
