UW-L Falls at UW-Whitewater

Whitewater, Wis. – The UW-La Crosse soccer team fell 4-1 at UW-Whitewater Saturday afternoon. The Eagles drop to 6-5-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Warhawks improve to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference.

UW-Whitewater scored the first four goals of the match, including three in the first half. Mary Donohoo notched her ninth goal of the season at 11:00 with an assist from Megan Schlecht. Sara Brown made it 2-0 at 16:00 unassisted. It was her fourth goal of the season. The Warhawks took a 3-0 lead at 38:00 as Melanie Billinghurst scored her first goal of the year with an assist from Gabby Fenzel.

Becky Cera scored her third goal of the season at 65:00 for UW-Whitewater with Donohoo recording the assist.

UW-L's Chelsea Gilbertson scored her second goal of the year at 77:00 to make the final score 4-1. It was an unassisted goal.

UW-Whitewater outshot UW-L, 16-10, including 9-4 on shots on goal. Amanda Clark recorded five saves for the Eagles while Mary Scanlin had three for the Warhawks.

UW-L returns to action Wednesday, October 15 hosting UW-Platteville at 4 p.m.
