Weyenberg Scores Winning Goal in Final Minute

River Falls, Wis. - Ramsey Weyenberg scored with 38 seconds left with an assist from Chelsea Hall to give the UW-La Crosse soccer squad a 2-1 victory at UW-River Falls Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles improve to 5-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the WIAC with the win while the Falcons fall to 1-7 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

It marks the first time since 1999 UW-L has started 2-0 in the conference.

Eryn Lansverk gave UW-River Falls a 1-0 lead at 14:56 with an assist from Kelsey Kizlik before Chelsea Gilbertson scored at 33:45 with an assist from Weyenberg to force a 1-1 tie.

Weyenberg then scored her winning goal at 89:22 to give UW-L its second straight late win. Hall scored at 88:41 in the Eagles' 2-1 victory at Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) September 17.

UW-L outshot UW-River Falls, 13-12. Both teams finished with nine shots on goal. The Eagles' Amanda Clark recorded eight saves while the Falcons' Emily Stieler finished with seven.

UW-L returns to action Saturday, September 27 hosting UW-Eau Claire at 2 p.m.
