Taylor Scores Winning Goal on Penalty Kick in Victory over UW-Stout

La Crosse, Wis. - Saskia Taylor scored the winning goal on a penalty kick as the UW-La Crosse soccer team earned a 3-2 victory over UW-Stout Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles improve to 3-8-1 overall and 2-4 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Blue Devils fall to 3-10 overall and 2-4 in the conference.

Taylor scored the winning goal at 84:38 after a yellow card to UW-Stout's Jessica Price. It was Taylor's second goal of the season.

UW-L led 1-0 at halftime on Lindsay Wilde's fifth goal of the year at 21:40 assisted by Sarah Joost.

The teams then combined on four goals in the second half. The Blue Devils tied it at 1-1 at 50:37 on the first goal of the year by Katie Ness. Price gave UW-Stout a 2-1 lead at 59:23 scoring unassisted after a UW-L turnover.

The Eagles forced a 2-2 tie at 63:20 as Laura Jacobson scored her first goal of the season with an assist from Taylor Baker.

UW-L outshot UW-Stout, 26-17, including 12-10 on shots on goal. The Eagles' Sagan Pizzingrilli recorded eight saves while the Blue Devils' Bridget LaVallee had nine saves.

UW-L returns to action Wednesday, Oct. 14 hosting UW-Stevens Point at 5 p.m.
