UW-L Opens Conference Play with Shutout Win over UW-Superior

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team won its 2008 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opener Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over UW-Superior at Fields for Kids. The Eagles now lead the all-time series, 16-0, with the Yellowjackets.
UW-L improves to 3-2 on the season with its win while UW-Superior falls to 1-5-1 overall and 0-1 in the WIAC.
The Eagles outshot the Yellowjackets, 42-1, including 18-0 on shots on goal.
Chelsea Hall scored her second goal of the season at 36:16 with an assist from Sarah Harrington to make it 1-0. UW-L added two goals in the second half. Ramsey Weyenberg scored her first goal of the year unassisted at 52:35 and Michaela Kocon notched her second of the season with an assist from Sarah Joost at 87:02.
Amanda Clark recorded her third shutout of the year in goal for UW-L. It was the 13th in her career, which ranks third in school history. Anna Olsen had 15 saves for UW-Superior Saturday.
UW-L returns to action Sunday, September 14 hosting the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) at 4 p.m.
