UW-L Wins Fourth Straight Oktoberfest Cup with Victory over Viterbo

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team won its fourth straight Wells Fargo Oktoberfest Cup Wednesday night with a 1-0 victory over city-rival Viterbo University at Fields for Kids. The Eagles now lead the all-time series, 9-0, with the V-Hawks.

UW-L improves to 2-2 on the season with the win while Viterbo falls to 4-4-1.

Michaela Kocon scored the only goal of the match at 50:37 for UW-L with assists from Amy Warren and Sarah Joost. It was Kocon's first goal of the season and her first career game-winning goal.

The Eagles outshot the V-Hawks, 24-8, including 10-3 with shots on goal. Amanda Clark finished with three saves for UW-L, recording her 12th career shutout. The 12 career shutouts is tied for third in school history. Stephanie Stacey had eight saves for Viterbo. The V-Hawks also had one team save.

UW-L returns to action Saturday, September 13 hosting UW-Superior in its Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opener. Match time is 2 p.m. at Fields for Kids.
