UW-L Wins WIAC Relays

Eau Claire, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team captured the 2008 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Relays Saturday afternoon at UW-Eau Claire. The Eagles finished with 158 team points while UW-Stevens Point was second with 154 and UW-Eau Claire third with 88.
UW-Whitewater finished fourth (60 points) while UW-Oshkosh was fifth (54) and UW-River Falls sixth (40).
Individually, Rachel LaValley captured the 3-meter diving competition (238.05 points) while placing second in the 1-meter (194.10).
The Eagles won six relays Saturday, including the 200 and 400 freestyle. Chelsea Hoff, Brianna Peyer, Danielle Rux and Clare Hathaway took the 200 freestyle relay (1:39.49) while Hoff, Rux, Hathaway and Katelyn Hartung won the 400 freestyle (3:37.23).
UW-L captured the 400 medley relay (4:02.94) with the team of Hoff, Peyer, Danielle Ellingson and Hathaway (4:02.94). The Eagles also won the 300 backstroke relay with the team of Hoff, Elizabeth Misener and Jennifer Bryson (3:05.73) and the 300 butterfly relay with Kacie O'Brien, Hartung and Ellingson (3:04.94). UW-L also took the 300 medley individual relay (3:09.03).
Five relays placed second for UW-L, including the 800, 850 and 1,500 freestyle relays; the 200 medley relay and the 300 breaststroke relay.
