UW-L Remains in Eighth-Place at NCAA III Championships

Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming and diving team remains in eighth-place after the third day of competition Friday at the 2009 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Championships at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
The Eagles have 101.0 team points while Kenyon College leads with 426.0. Denison University is second (312.0) followed by Emory University (311.5), Williams College (279.5) and Calvin College (151.0) to round-out the top-five. Amherst College is sixth (149.5) followed by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (124.0), UW-La Crosse, Johns Hopkins University (97.0) and Carthage College (77.0) in the top-10. A total of 54 teams have scored points.
In action Friday, UW-L's Chelsea Hoff placed sixth in the 100 backstroke (56.70) to earn All-America honors. She had recorded the fifth-fastest time (56.50) in Friday morning's prelims.
The Eagles' Rachel LaValley earned honorable mention All-America accolades Friday with a 15th-place finish in the 1-meter diving competition (352.20).
UW-L's 800 freestyle relay of Danielle Ellingson, Katelyn Hartung, Clare Hathaway and Anita Talavera earned NCAA III Honorable Mention All-America honors with a 13th-place finish (7:42.41).
Brianna Peyer failed to qualify for the 100 breaststroke final after finishing 25th in the prelims (1:06.14) Friday morning.
