Ellingson and LaValley Named WIAC Athletes of the Week

Madison, Wis. - UW-La Crosse freshman Danielle Ellingson of Madison (Memorial) and sophomore Rachael LaValley of Eau Claire (Memorial) have been selected the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Swimmer and Diver of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Ellingson captured the 200-yard individual medley with a pool record time of 2:12.02 in UW-La Crosse's 134-101 home dual victory over UW-Eau Claire Jan. 17. She broke the record set by the Eagles' Elizabeth Miles of 2:12.77 in 2004. Ellingson also finished second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:15.27) and 500-yard freestyle (5:23.01).
LaValley swept the one-meter (226.70 points) and three-meter (242.55) diving competitions in the Eagles' win over UW-Eau Claire.
UW-L returns to action Friday, Jan. 23 at the Get to the Point Invite at UW-Stevens Point.
