UW-L Defeats UW-Eau Claire in WIAC Dual; Hoff and LaValley Win Two Events

La Crosse, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team improved to 2-0 on the season with a 134-101 dual victory over UW-Eau Claire Saturday night in Mitchell Hall.

The Eagles' Chelsea Hoff and Rachael LaValley each won two events. Hoff captured the 50 (23.98) and 100 (52.70) freestyle while LaValley took the 1-meter (226.70 points) and 3-meter (242.55) diving competitions.

UW-L also had three other individual first-place finishes Saturday. Katelyn Hartung won the 200 freestyle (1:58.04) while finishing third in the 500 freestyle (5:24.18). Danielle Ellingson captured the 200 I.M. (pool record time of 2:12.02) and finished second in the 200 butterfly (2:15.27) and 500 freestyle (5:23.01). Kacie O'Brien won the 200 breaststroke (2:30.32) for UW-L.

The Eagles' 400-medley relay of Elisabeth Misener, Brianna Peyer, O'Brien and Clare Hathaway also finished first (4:06.71).

Other top finishers Saturday included Shannon Doyle placing second in the 1-meter (221.05 points) and 3-meter (242.35) diving competition while Samantha Koch was third in the 1-meter (209.05) and Kelly Schippers was third in the 3-meter (242.35).

Jennifer Bryson finished second in the 1,000 freestyle (10:59.11) and Peyer was second in the 100 freestyle (55.45). The Eagles' Elizabeth Werner placed second (2:30.40) and Elizabeth Hausauer was third (2:35.83) in the 200 breaststroke.

Misener was third in the 200 I.M. (2:19.11) and Emily Christopherson third in the 200 backstroke (2:18.37).

UW-L returns to action Friday, Jan. 23 at the Get to the Point Invite at UW-Stevens Point.
