UW-L Opens Season at Northfield Quad Classic; Hoff Wins Three Events

Northfield, Minn. - The UW-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team opened its 2008-09 season at the Northfield Colleges Quad Classic Saturday afternoon at St. Olaf College. No team scores were kept.
The Eagles' Chelsea Hoff and Danielle Ellingson were both multi-time winners. Hoff captured the 100 (58.77) and 200 (2:11.49) backstrokes as well as the 50 freestyle (24.15). Ellingson took first in the 200 (2:14.25) and 400 (4:48.12) I.M.
Jennifer Bryson, Katelyn Hartung, Brianna Peyer, Kacie O'Brien and Anita Talavera each won an individual event Saturday. Bryson captured the 1,650 freestyle (18:40.11) while Hartung took the 200 freestyle (2:00.70). Hartung was also second in the 100 freestyle (55.65) and 200 butterfly (1:02.67). Peyer won the 100 breaststroke (1:10.17), O'Brien the 200 breaststroke (2:30.97) and Talavera the 500 freestyle (5:26.88).
Samantha Koch won the 1-meter diving competition (400.70 points) while Rachel LaValley captured the 3-meter (416.15). Koch was second in the 3-meter (386.70) while LaValley finished second in the 1-meter (387.50).
UW-L's Elizabeth Werner was second in the 1,650 (18:46.93) and 500 (5:35.18) freestyle.
The Eagles were second in the 200 medley relay (1:51.11) and took first in the mixed 200 freestyle relay (1:32.11).
