UW-L Defeats UW-Stevens Point in Home Finale; Talavera and Hoff Each Win Two Events

La Crosse, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team improved to 3-0 in duals this season with a 145-98 victory over UW-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon in Mitchell Hall in the Eagles' final home meet of the season.
The Eagles' Anita Talavera and Chelsea Hoff both captured two individual titles Saturday. Talavera won the 1,000 freestyle (10:59.50) and 200 butterfly (2:13.82) while Hoff took the 50 freestyle (24.18) and 200 backstroke (2:06.91).
UW-L's Danielle Ellingson won the 200 I.M. (pool record time of 2:10.96) while Katelyn Hartung captured the 100 freestyle (54.21). Ellingson also finished second in the 200 butterfly (2:15.22) while Hartung was second in the 200 freestyle (1:57.50)
In diving, Shannon Doyle took the 3-meter competition (244.25 points) while finishing third in the 1-meter (222.75). Teammate Samantha Koch won the 1-meter diving (226.40).
The Eagles' captured the 400 medley and 400 freestyle relays Saturday. Hoff, Brianna Peyer, Ellingson and Clare Hathaway won the 400 medley relay (3:58.84) while Hathaway, Hartung, Danielle Rux and Talavera captured the 400 freestyle relay (3:39.84).
Other top finishes included Eva Clemens placing second (24.83) and Peyer third (24.91) in the 50 freestyle. The Eagles' Elizabeth Werner recorded third-place finishes in the 500 (5:25.73) and 1,000 (11:06.27) freestyle. Peyer was third in the 100 freestyle (55.40) and Hathaway third in the 200 freestyle (2:00.31). UW-L's Melissa Klotz finished third in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.08) while Rachael LaValley placed third in the 3-meter diving competition (229.15 points).
