Tennis Team Earns WIAC Road Win

Eau Claire, Wis. – The UW-La Crosse women’s tennis squad improved to 9-2 overall and 4-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) with a 5-4 victory at UW-Eau Claire Friday night. The Blugolds fall to 8-3 overall and 4-2 in the conference.
The Eagles took four of six singles matches, including Kelly Kuether (No. 2), Carlie Bohrman (No. 4), Mara Weiner (No. 5) and Jenny Maruyama (No. 6) recorded victories.
Kuether defeated Brenna McCormick (6-3, 2-6, 7-5) while Bohrman beat Erin Welch (4-6, 6-2, 6-4). Weiner earned the win at No. 5 singles over Jillian Horner (6-2, 6-4) and Maruyama defeated Michelle Reinders at No. 6 (6-1, 6-4).
UW-Eau Claire’s Gina Dahl earned the victory at No. 1 singles over UW-L’s Kelly Stadum (6-1, 6-0). The Blugolds’ Megan Born defeated Katie McDonald at No. 3 singles (6-4, 6-3).
In doubles, UW-Eau Claire earned wins at No. 2 and 3. McCormick/Welch defeated Bohrman/Sarah Schoenwaelder at No. 2 (8-4) while Born/Taylor Heltne beat McDonald/Andrea Vivian at No. 3 (9-8).
The Eagles’ Stadum/Kuether won at No. 1 doubles over Dahl/Courtney Lynne (8-1).
UW-L returns to action Saturday, Oct. 17 at UW-Stout at 9 a.m.
