Tennis Team Completes WIAC Season with Win at UW-Stout

Menomonie, Wis. – In the final Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match of the season, the UW-La Crosse women’s tennis squad improved to 10-2 overall and 5-1 league with a 8-1 victory at UW-Stout Saturday afternoon. The Blue Devils fall to 3-9 overall and 0-6 in the conference.
The Eagles took five of six singles matches, including Carlie Bohrman (No. 2), Mara Weiner (No. 3), Jenny Maruyama (No. 4), Megan Fallon (No. 5) and Sarah Schoenwaelder (No. 6).
Bohrman defeated Abby Werwie (6-1, 6-1), Weiner beat Erin James (6-0, 6-0) and Maruyama earned the win over Katie Sorensen (6-0, 6-1). Fallon defeated Stephanie Schick at No. 5 singles (6-3, 6-2) while Schoenwaelder beat Nicole Seitz at No. 6 (6-0, 6-0).
UW-Stout's Allie Hinman defeated UW-L's Katie McDonald at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-4).
UW-L swept the three doubles matches as Kelly Kuether/Kelly Stadum defeated Hinman/Werwie at No. 1 (8-5); Maruyama/Andrea Vivian beat James/Sorensen at No. 2 (8-2) and Lindsay Seccombe/Amanda O'Keefe defated Schick/Seitz at No. 3 (8-0).
UW-L returns to action Saturday, Oct. 24 at the WIAC Tournament at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium in Madison.
