Weiner Named WIAC Player of the Week

Madison, Wis. - UW-La Crosse freshman Mara Weiner of Madison (East) has been selected the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

Weiner went 4-0 during the week as the Eagles finished 3-1 to open their 2009 season.

She compiled a 1-0 mark at No. 4 and No. 5 singles while earning a 2-0 record at No. 6 singles. Weiner won all four matches in straight sets to upend opponents from Cornell College (Iowa), Knox College (Iowa), Luther College (Iowa) and Wartburg College (Iowa).

UW-L returns to action Friday, Sept. 11 at Beloit College (Wis.) at 4 p.m.
