UW-L Leads Division III with Fourteen Student-Athletes Earning Academic Honors

La Crosse, Wis. – Fourteen members of the 2008 UW-La Crosse women's track & field squad have been selected to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III All-Academic Track & Field Team. The Eagles' 14 selections are the most of any institution.
A total of 232 student-athletes representing 84 Division III colleges and universities made up the 2008 All-Academic team.
The USTFCCCA honors Division III individuals for their academic and athletic achievements during the indoor and outdoor track and field season.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met the NCAA Division III Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.
UW-L's 14 selections include: junior Chris Claussen of Watertown, Minn. (Watertown-Mayer), senior Alecia Ellingstad of Elk Mound (H.S.), junior Katie Fondow of Green Bay (West), sophomore Katlin Genthe of Menomonie Falls (H.S.), senior AnnMarie Glejf of Cudahy (H.S.), senior Krista Kopetsky of Appleton (East), senior Abby Lien of Waite Park, Minn. (St. Cloud Cathedral), sophomore Ashton May of Adams, Minn. (Southland), junior Caitlin Perra of Zumbrota, Minn. (Zumbrota-Mazeppa), junior Danica Schaefer of Waukesha (West), junior Caitlin Schetter of Kiel (H.S.), junior Jamie Scott of Rosholt (H.S.), senior Katie Steingraeber of La Crosse (Aquinas) and sophomore Katelyn Williams of Madison (West).
UW-L also earned All-Academic team honors with a grade point average of 3.37.
The Eagles swept the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor and Outdoor titles in 2008. UW-L tied for fourth at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships and tied for 18th at the national outdoor meet.
