Schetter Named Regional Indoor Field Athlete of the Year

New Orleans, La. – UW-La Crosse senior Caitlin Schetter of Kiel (H.S.) has been selected the 2009 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Midwest Region Indoor Field Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive season.

The USTFCCCA selects the top track athlete, field athlete, and coach for the eight regions in Division III track and field.

Schetter was named the 2009 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Field Performer of the Meet after winning the long jump (19-5 1/2), triple jump (38-11 3/4) and 55-meter dash (7.25) February 28-March 1 at UW-Stout. It marked the second straight year she earned the conference honor.

She currently ranks first in the long jump and second in the triple jump heading into this weekend's NCAA Division III Championships at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Schetter was named the 2008 USTFCCCA National Indoor Track & Field Women's Field Athlete of the Year after capturing the long jump national title (19-2 3/4) at Ohio Northern University. She became the first athlete in school history to win the national indoor long jump championship. Schetter placed seventh in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump at the 2007 NCAA III Indoor Championships.
