UW-L Wins Triangular; Schetter Sets School and Facility Record; Relay Sets Facility Record

La Crosse, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse women's track & field team won its own triangular Friday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles finished with 169 team points while Winona State University (Minn.) was second with 92 points and Augustana College (Ill.) third with 81.

UW-L's Caitlin Schetter set a school and facility record in winning the long jump Friday night at 19-4 1/4. She broke her own school record (19-3 1/2 in 2008) and the facility record of Tara Harding of UW-Oshkosh (18-8 3/4 set in 1995). Schetter also automatically qualified for the NCAA III Championships with her mark Friday night.

The Eagles' distance medley relay also set a Mitchell Hall Fieldhouse record Friday as Michelle Horn, Kayla Raduka, Beth Richmond and Megan Johnson won with a time of 12:11.72. UW-L provisionally qualified for the national championships with its time Friday. The previous distance medley relay record of 12:19.34 was set by UW-L in 2000.

UW-L also won the 4x200 (1:46.78) and 4x400 (3:55.67) relays Friday. Kelly Stipetich, Megan Thiel, Claire Kaufman and Laurel Beck won the 4x200-meter relay while Kelsey Katarow, Caitlin Wippermann, Lauren Seidl and Danica Schaefer took the 4x400-meter relay. The 4x400-meter relay provisionally qualified for the national meet.

Other individual winners on the track for the Eagles Friday included Megan Knutson in the mile run (5:22.62), Lauren Moss in the 3,000-meter run (10:55.44); Corrina Jones in the 5,000-meter run (19:54.74). In field events, Jenna Hudziak tied for first in the high jump (5-1 1/4) while Jamie Scott and Alecia Ellingstad tied for first on the pole vault (11-11 3/4). Scott and Ellingstad both met provisional qualifying marks in the pole vault.

In other results Friday, Schetter was second in the 55-meter dash (7.19) while Leanne Nowicki placed third in the 55-meter hurdles (9.31). Schetter provisionally qualified for the national championships in the 55-meter dash. Mary Olson finished second (5:31.87) and Kayla La Porte third (5:33.13) in the mile run while Kaitlin Joyce was third in the 400-meter run (1:02.69). UW-L's Courtney Rucker placed second in the 800-meter run (2:24.42), Whitney Nefstead second in the 3,000-meter run (11:01.07) and Leigh-Ann Des Roches finished second (20:11.53) and Nichelle Roessler third (20:16.36) in the 5,000-meter run.

Katie Fondow finished second (17-11 1/2) and Ashton May third (17-5 1/4) in the long jump for UW-L while Maggie May was second (34-4 3/4) and Caitlin Reed third (33-4 3/4) in the triple jump. Christy Bohl was second in the shot put (44-1 1/4), Amy Jo Garringer third in the high jump (5-1 1/4) and Kaitlin Genthe third in the pole vault (11-5 3/4). Fondow, Bohl and Genthe all provisonally qualified for the NCAA III Championships with their performances Friday night.
