UW-L Finishes Second at Wartburg Select; Scott Wins Pentathlon at UW-Stevens Point

Waverly, Iowa - The UW-La Crosse women's track & field team finished second at the five-team Wartburg College Indoor Select Meet Saturday in Waverly. The Eagles recorded 182.0 points while Wartburg took the team title with 213. The University of St. Thomas, Minn. was third (109) followed by UW-Platteville (63.25) and Buena Vista University, Iowa (29.75).
UW-L also competed at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational in the pentathlon Feb. 6, finishing seventh with 33.0 team points. The University of Minnesota-Duluth was first with 154.5 points. A total of 13 teams competed.
At the Wartburg Select Meet, UW-L's Christy Bohl won two events, taking the shot put (43-11 1/4) and weight throw (48-10). Her winning mark in the shot put met NCAA Division III provsional qualifying status for the national championships.
The Eagles' Caitlin Schetter captured the long jump with an NCAA III automatic qualifying mark of 18-11 3/4. She also placed second in the 55-meter dash with a provisional time of 7.24 and finished third in the 200-meter dash (26.26).
Kaitlin Genthe and Alecia Ellingstad tied for first in the pole vault with national provisional qualifying marks of 11-5 3/4. Ellingstad also finished fourth in the 55-meter hurdles (8.84).
UW-L's 4x200-meter (1:48.22) and 4x400-meter relay (national provisional 3:58.17) both finished second Saturday.
Katie Fondow recorded a pair of top-three finishes, placing second in the long jump (18-6) and third in the triple jump (34-11 3/4). She met the NCAA III Championship provisional qualifying mark in the long jump.
Other top finishes for the Eagles incluced Abby Schulz second in the triple jump (36-0 1/4) and Kayla LaPorte second in the 5,000-meter run (19:45.88). UW-L's Kristin Siemianowski was third (2:21.51) and Kelsey Heinz fourth (2:24.19) in the 800-meter run while Megan Johnson finished third (5:13.21) and Michelle Horn fourth (5:17.21) in the mile run. Alison Kolinski was fourth (10:56.74) in the 3,000-meter run while teammate Mary Olson was fifth (11:04.65).
In field events, Kayla Johnson was third (5-1 1/4) and Sara Mitchell fifth (4-11 1/2) in the high jump while Christy Moses finished fourth in the pole vault (9-0 1/4).

In the UW-Stevens Point Pentathlon, UW-L's Jamie Scott took first with 3,056 points. The Eagles' Lauren Terry was second (3,016) followed by teammates Amy Jo Garringer (2,710), Leanne Nowicki (2,635) and Ashton May (2,234) to round-out the top-five.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, Feb. 14 at the Coca Cola Classic at UW-River Falls.
