UW-L Competes at Minnesota State and Bowlus Opens

La Crosse, Wis. – The UW-La Crosse women's track & field team competed at two meets Saturday. No team scores were kept as the Eagles saw action at the Minnesota State Mankato Open and Warren Bowlus Open at UW-Stout.
At Minnesota State, Danica Schaefer swept the 200 (26.53) and 400 (59.48) meter dashes for the Eagles. Katie Fondow captured the long jump (18-6) and placed second in the triple jump (37-1 3/4) while Caitlin Schetter won the triple jump (39-2 1/2) and finished second in the long jump (17-11).
Other top finishes on the track included Kelsey Katarow placing second in the 200 (26.70) and 400 (59.49) meter dashes. Jamie Scott was fifth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.66).
In field events, Ashton May was third in the long jump (17-2) and Abby Schulz third in the triple jump (36-10 1/4). UW-L's Alecia Ellingstad finished third (11-8 1/2) and Kaitlin Genthe fifth (11-2 1/2) in the pole vault while Kayla Johnson and Amy Jo Garringer tied for third in the high jump (4-11 1/2).

In the Bowlus Open, UW-L's Kriston Siemianowski and Christy Bohl won individual events. Siemianowski took the 1,000-meter run (3:03.79) while Bohl captured the shot put (43-9). The Eagles also won the 4x200-meter relay (1:47.13).
Other top finishes on the track included Whitney Nefstead placing second (19:21.01) and Kayla La Porte third (19:22.11) in the 5,000-meter run. Stephanie Perleberg finished second (5:20.63) and Allison Kolinski third (5:21.43) in the mile run while Michelle Horn was second (3:03.98) and Megan Johnson third (3:06.51) in the 1,000-meter run. Megan Knutson was fourth in the 3,000-meter run (11:19.71).
Laurel Beck was second (7.58) and Kelly Stipetich fifth (7.66) in the 55-meter dash while Leanne Nowicki finished fourth in the 55-meter hurdles (9.26). In the 200-meter dash, Lauren Seidl was second (26.38) and Megan Thiel fifth (27.29). Caitlin Wipperman finished second in the 400-meter dash (1:01.67) and Kelsey Heinz second in the 600-meter run (1:42.67).
In the field events, Jessica Ramel was fourth in the shot put (40-1 1/2).
