UW-L Competes at Wartburg; Bohl and Schetter Win Multiple Events

Waverly, Iowa - The UW-La Crosse women's track & field team continued its outdoor season with a dual meet at Wartburg College Tuesday night. No team scores were recorded.

The Eagles won nine individual events Tuesday, including three from Christy Bohl and two from Caitlin Schetter. Bohl captured the shot put (40-7 1/2), discus throw (135-9) and hammer throw (142-2) while also finishing second in the javelin throw (107-2).

Schetter took the 100-meter dash (12.02) and triple jump (39-1) and provisionally qualified for the NCAA III Championships in both events.

Other winners for UW-L included Laurel Beck in the 400-meter dash (1:01.15), Jenna Starck in the high jump (5-1), Kaitlin Genthe in the pole vault (12-0 3/4) and Ashton May in the long jump (18-10 1/2). Genthe and May also provisionally qualified for the national outdoor championships. May also finished third in the triple jump (37-6).

Top finishes on the track included Kelsie Birschbach placing second in the 1,500-meter run (5:05.66), Courtney Rucker was third in the 800-meter run (2:26.28), Jamie Scott fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.55) and Bethany Reel fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:04.15). Scott was also third in the long jump (17-4 3/4).

UW-L also finished third in the 4x100-meter relay (49.02).

In field events, Kaitlyn Joyce was second (11-7) and Christy Moses third (9-7 1/4) in the pole vault with Joyce earning provisional qualifying status. Sara Mitchell placed third in the high jump (4-11).

Kjirsten Jacobson was fourth (17-2 1/4) and Abby Schultz fifth (16-9 1/4) in the long jump while Katie Fondow finished fourth (36-7 1/2) and Schultz fifth (35-7 3/4) in the triple jump. The Eagles' Megan Nitka placed fourth in the javelin throw (98-2) and Morgan Phalen was fifth in the hammer throw (121-11).
