UW-L Drops Second Straight WIAC Match

Eau Claire, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team dropped to 2-9 overall and 0-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match at UW-Eau Claire Saturday afternoon. The Eagles fell 3-0 (22-25, 20-25, 14-25) to the Blugolds, currently ranked 13th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Poll. UW-Eau Claire improves to 10-2 overall and 1-1 in the league with its victory.
Brianne Stankus led UW-L with nine kills Saturday while Kate Malterer had seven. Liz Schlobohm recorded 23 assists as the Eagles hit .107 as a team.
Melany Vanden Langenberg had a team-high 12 digs with Melannie Tate adding nine.
UW-Eau Claire was le by Rachel Ver Voort's eight kills and Danielle Lucia finished with seven. Emily Zupon and Liz Amici each recorded six kills while Emily Neave and Amanda Lessner had 17 assists each. The Blugolds hit .224 as a team.
Lindsey Smith had a match-high 20 digs.
UW-L returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 23 hosting UW-Stevens Point in the Eagles' home opener. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Mitchell Hall.
