Full Council Meeting
MINUTES

Present:
Cantona, Goudie, Reinert, Petersen, Weiland, Sweetman, Graumann, Naber,
Wirkus, Walls, and Torstveit

I. Chair Wirkus called the meeting to order at 3:00 PM.
II.
Minutes from March 26 Full Council meeting approved.
III.
The Council participated in a question/answer period with Jennifer
Wilson. The transcript from this is
located on the Academic Staff Council webpage.
IV.
The Council elected officers for the coming year.
Chair: Terry Wirkus
Vice Chair: Marcia Naber
Secretary: Wayne Jacobson
AS Rep to Madison: TBA
V.
Vice Chair Naber led a discussion about committee volunteer solicitation.
She shared a spreadsheet compiled by Sarah Westbrook.
The Executive Committee will make committee assignments and bring those
assignments to the FC meeting on May 14. Volunteers
are still needed for the Bylaws Committee and also for the Parking Appeals
Committee.
VI. The Excellence Award will be announced in the fall.
The winners have been notified discreetly, as well as those who have not
been nominated.
VII.
Bill Graumann reported on the AS Reps Meeting (teleconference in Wing).
Several individuals spoke, including George brooks, Debbie Dirken, and
Frieda Harris, on issues such as the hiring freeze, the pay plan, and financial
aid/tuition.
VIII.
The Most Accessible Staff/Faculty/Department will be honored on April 24,
at 4PM in the Ward Room. The
winners are Nelda Manter, Bart Van Voorhis, and the ITS Department.
IX.
Ron Kind will be on campus at 10:00AM on Friday, May 3.
This is open to the campus, but the location is TBA.
X.
Vice Chair Naber asked for the Council’s approval for the ASK program
to begin in the fall. Andrea Goudie
proposes a kick-off event such as a small social for the mentors and staff
members who would like mentors.
XI. Old Business
a.
Only Chair Wirkus would like to receive the “UW-L in the News.”
