TO:                  Non-Instructional Academic Staff

FROM:            Bylaws, Elections, and Policies/Procedures Committee

                        Academic Staff Council

SUBJECT:     Academic Staff Council Elections

This spring non-instructional academic staff will elect four (4) new members to the Academic Staff Council.  Two (2) positions will be elected from the Colleges, one (1) position from the Administrative Units, and one (1) At-Large.  Each position serves a three-year term.

The Academic Staff Council is the governing body for non-instructional academic staff and plays a significant role in decisions about titling, personnel policies and compensation affecting academic staff.  The council continued to review campus programs and provide input to campus policies, in consultation with the Chancellor’s Office.

Please consider running for election to the Academic Staff Council!  Membership on the council is an excellent way to meet other academic staff, network, and participate in governance to make a difference on campus!  Full council meetings are currently held on the second and fourth Monday of every month from 1:15 – 2:45 p.m.

Attached is a nomination petition.  Complete this petition and obtain the signatures of three eligible academic staff members (see petition for eligible signatures) who support your nomination.  Return your petition to the Academic Staff Council Office, Room 217 Graff Main Hall, no later than 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday April 2, 2008.  A copy of the petition can also be found on the Academic Staff Council website: http://www.uwlax.edu/academicstaff/election2008.htm

If you have any questions or would like more information on the council, please feel free to contact any council member.

We look forward to hearing from you!!
