Approval for Off-Campus Publications is Mandatory
All art produced in Campus Graphics and all printing jobs placed at Document Services, which represent publications intended for an off-campus audience, must be reviewed by the Publications Office prior to their completion to ensure that the policies and graphic standards established in this booklet are followed.

Using Freelancers
When choosing a graphic design service be sure you know exactly what is included in the service. Oftentimes, graphic designers do not offer any writing and copy editing services of publications. For tips on working with freelancers, contact the Publications Office for the brochure "Guidelines for Freelance Graphic Design Services" and for the UW-L Publications Request Form. The guide gives tips on selecting graphic design services. It also spells out the procedures for placing off-campus printing jobs with the Publications Office for jobs produced by freelancers.

All work produced outside the Publications Office must follow the Style Guide and Associated Press style, must be proofed, and must be ready to be placed with the printer before being submitted to our office. If the Publications Office feels critical changes are necessary, as overseer of university publications, we will coordinate changes based on the most expedient and cost-efficient method. The Publications Office will proof corrected copy against our original copy of requested changes. The university client will be billed for our time and any additional costs incurred.
