The
University of Wisconsin-La Crosse offers an annual UW-L Athletic
Training Camp for high school students interested in athletic training.
This camp is designed for students to experience first-hand knowledge
regarding the athletic training profession through the guidance of
licensed athletic trainers as well as athletic training students
currently in the UW-L athletic training program.
The athletic training program at the University of Wisconsin-La
Crosse was the first accredited athletic training program in the state
of Wisconsin, and offers one of the most competitive, in-depth and
hands-on athletic training programs in the country. The athletic
training program has gained an excellent reputation for involving their
athletic training students in various year-round athletic training
opportunities.
The
athletic training camp is just one of the many opportunities athletic
training students at UW-L participate, in an effort to educate high
school students about the athletic training profession. Athletic
trainers have become a resource in various high schools across the
United States and with the volume of high school athletics, students can
serve as an aide in the prevention of athletic injuries, providing basic
first aid, and carrying out rehabilitation programs for athletes.
The goals of the athletic training camp for high school students are to
become more educated in the profession when considering college options
and provide campers with basic skills needed to assist their high school
athletic teams.
