UW-L Wins Griak Invite; Wilhelmy Captures Individual Title

Minneapolis, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's cross country team captured the Roy Griak Invitational Saturday afternoon at the University of Minnesota. The Eagles finished with 48 team points while UW-Platteville was second with 81 and Emory University (Ga.) third with 113. UW-Oshkosh placed fourth (172) and UW-Whitewater fifth (175).

UW-Eau Claire was sixth (210) followed by St. Olaf College, Minn. (281), Hamline University, Minn. (317), Lakehead University (323) and Wartburg College, Iowa (337) to round-out the top-10.

The Eagles' Zach Wilhelmy captured the individual title Saturday with a time of 25:27.6 on the 8,000-meter course. Connor Lonning finished sixth overall (25:51.8) for UW-L while Scott Hayden was ninth (26:10.5).

Other top-finishers for UW-L included Dallas Vincent placing 14th (26:21.5), Paul Moran 18th (26:27.0), Sean Harrington 19th (26:27.3), Brian Shonat 23rd (26:45.1), Zach McFall 28th (26:52.1) and Kyle Coghlan 31st (26:53.3).
