Gyllin Named to D3football.com All-West Region First Team

La Crosse, Wis. - University of Wisconsin-La Crosse senior offensive guard Randy Gyllin of Mauston (H.S.) has been selected to the 2007 D3football.com All-West Region First Team.

Gyllin, named to the 2007 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) First Team, helped lead UW-L’s offense to average 32.2 points per game, ranking second in the league. UW-L scored at least 24 points in all nine contests this year. The Eagles lead the WIAC in passing yards per game (253.8), total offensive yards per game (435.9) and passing efficiency (144.9).

The team is tied for the fewest sacks allowed in the conference this season (22) while ranking second in fourth-down conversions (15-of-26, 57.7%). The Eagles are third in the league in rushing yards per game (182.1).

Gyllin, who started all nine games at offensive guard this year, was a 2006 All-WIAC Second Team selection.

The West Region includes players representing the WIAC, Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Midwest Conference, Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Northwest Conference and Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The team was selected in balloting by West Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff.

UW-L finished 5-4 overall and 3-4 in the WIAC in 2007, recording its 36th winning season in the last 38 years.
