Troia and Hall Earn Football Honors

La Crosse, Wis. University of Wisconsin-La Crosse junior defensive end Joe Troia of Omaha, Nebraska (Westside) and senior tailback Dan Hall of Valders (H.S.) have each earned honors after the Eagles' 27-20 overtime win over Azusa Pacific University September 15 at Roger Harring Stadium at Veterans Memorial Field.
Troia has been selected the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Defensive Player of the Week while Hall has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week.
Troia tied for the team lead with eight tackles against the Cougars, including five solo. He also had a team-high three tackles for losses of four yards and forced one fumble, which led to UW-L's first touchdown.
He is third on the team in tackles this year with 14, including nine solo, and leads the Eagles with four tackles for loss.
Hall scored three touchdowns - two rushing and one receiving - in the Eagles' win over Azusa Pacific. He scored on a 40-yard reception in the second quarter and on a 10-yard run in the third period. Hall then scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime on a nine-yard run as he totaled 20 of UW-L's 25 yards of offense on the drive.
He set career-highs in rushing attempts (25) and yards (137) in the contest. Hall also finished with two receptions for 56 yards and accounted for 193 of UW-L's 312 total yards of offense. Hall leads the Eagles with 164 yards rushing on 35 carries this year. He also has a team-high four touchdowns (two rushing, two receiving).
