Diehl Finishes Competition at NCAA III Championships

Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming and diving team finished in a tie for 55th-place at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Championships Saturday night at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The Eagles recorded 3.0 team points.

Kenyon College captured the national title with 604.0 points while Emory University was second with 402.0. Denison University placed third (308.5), St. Olaf College was fourth (252.0) and Amherst College fifth (196.0). Grove City College finished sixth (168.0) followed by Washington University (151.0), UW-Stevens Point (143.0), MIT (138.5) and The College of New Jersey (130.0) to round-out the top-10. A total of 57 teams scored points.

He placed 14th in the 100 breaststroke (56.66) Friday to earn NCAA III Honorable Mention All-America honors. Diehl recorded the 12th-best time in the prelims Friday morning with a school record time of 56.36.

Diehl competed in the 50 freestyle preliminaries Wednesday, tying for 27th in the preliminaries (20.86).

He has now five career NCAA III All-America awards, with the previous four coming in 2007. Diehl was a member of UW-L's seventh-place 200 freestyle relay as well as the 11th-place 400 freestyle relay, 14th-place 400 medley relay and 14th-place 800 freestyle relay in 2007.
