UW-L Falls to Carleton; Vickers Wins in Singles Play

Winona, Minn. - The UW-La Crosse men’s tennis team fell 7-2 to Carleton College (Minn.) Saturday afternoon in Winona, Minnesota. The Eagles are now 1-2 on the season.

Paul Vickers earned UW-L’s only win in singles play, defeating Jordan Hughes at No. 6 (6-1, 6-2).

Joey Van Lieshout (No. 1), Nathan Fekete (No. 2), Nick Piotrowski (No. 3), Steven Quiring (No. 4) and Doug Marmar (No. 5) fell in singles.

Vickers/Jon Mahvi (No. 3) picked up a win in doubles for the Eagles, defeating Peter Dunn/Vince Heguy (8-6). Van Lieshout/Piotrowski (No. 1) and Fekete/Quiring (No. 2) lost in doubles.

UW-L returns to action Saturday, Feb. 14 versus Coe College (Iowa) at 9 a.m. and St. Ambrose College (Iowa) at 1 p.m. in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
