UW-L Falls to UW-Eau Claire

Whitewater, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse men’s tennis team fell 6-3 to UW-Eau Claire Friday afternoon at UW-Whitewater. The Eagles fall to 8-10 on the season while the Blugolds improve to 23-7.

UW-Eau Claire took four of the six singles matches. Steve Lantz defeated Joey Van Lieshout at No. 1 singles (3-6, 7-5, 6-2), Chris Kuna beat Steven Quiring at No. 4 (7-6, 6-4), Kevin Fawcett defeated Jon Mahvi at No. 5 (6-1, 6-3) and Eric Wollum beat John Hildebrandt at No. 6 (6-1, 6-3).

The Eagles' Nick Piotrowski won at No. 2 singles (6-4, 6-3) over the Blugolds' Lars Olson while Nathan Fekete defeated Phil Loprinzi at No. 3 singles (6-3, 6-4).

The Blugolds won two of the three doubles matches Friday. Loprinzi/Lantz defeated Van Lieshout at No. 1 (8-5) while Kuna/Olson beat Fekete/Quiring at No. 2 (8-5).
Mahvi/Hildenbrandt won at No. 3 doubles (8-5) for UW-L over Dirk Van Rybroek/Fawcett.

UW-L returns to action Saturday, April 11 with two matches at UW-Whitewater. The Eagles face the host Warhawks at 9:30 a.m. and UW-Oshkosh at 1 p.m.
