UW-L Falls to St. Olaf in Home Finale

La Crosse, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse mens tennis team fell 5-4 to St. Olaf College (Minn.) Tuesday afternoon in the Eagles' home finale. UW-L is now 8-9 on the season while St. Olaf improves to 4-4.
The Oles took four of six singles matches Tuesday. Ian Pray defeated the Eagles' Joey Van Lieshout at No. 1 singles (6-4, 6-2); David Narvaez beat Nathan Fekete at No. 3 (5-7, 6-3, 10-5); John Wight defeated Doug Marmar at No. 5 (6-3, 6-2) and Nick Hubbard-Peters beat Paul Vickers at No. 6 (6-0, 6-4).
UW-L picked up victories at No. 2 and 4 singles. Nick Piotrowski beat Knute Gundersen at No. 2 (7-5, 6-4) while Steven Quiring defeated Brian Tolly at No. 4 (7-6, 6-3).
In doubles, the Eagles took two of three matches. Van Lieshout/Piotrowski beat Pray/Gundersen at No. 1 (8-6) and Fekete/Quiring defeated Narvaez/Tolly at No. 2 (8-5). The Oles' Wight/Will Mitchell beat Sam Talarczyk/John Hildebrandt at No. 3 (9-8).
UW-L returns to acton Friday, April 10 versus UW-Eau Claire. The match will be played at 3:30 p.m. at UW-Whitewater.
