UW-L Tied for Sixth After First Day of NCAA III Championships; DMR Places Second Overall

Ada, Ohio – The UW-La Crosse men’s track & field team is tied for sixth-place after the first day of competition Friday at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships at Ohio Northern University. The Eagles have 8.0 team points while Monmouth College leads with 20. UW-Platteville is second (13) while Moravian and Bates are tied for third (10) with Loras fifth (9).

UW-L is tied for sixth with North Central (8), Heidelberg (8) and Defiance (8). The Eagles have won six of the last seven national indoor titles and an NCAA III record 13 overall.

In action Friday, UW-L's distance medley relay earned All-America honors with a second-place finish. The relay of Kevin Oelstrom, Dylan Randolph, Andrew Boldt and Paul Zdroik went 10:02.04 to place second overall.

The Eagles had two individuals advance to final events on the track Friday. Zdroik advanced to the mile run final after running 4:23.30 in the preliminaries while David Kolbe advanced in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.18. Finals for both events will take place Saturday.

In other preliminary track action, Matt Gordy (6.41) failed to advance to the 55-meter dash final while Jonathon Doble (50.29) did not advance to the 400-meter dash final.
