UW-L Places Second at Warhawk Classic

Whitewater, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men’s track & field team finished second out of seven teams at the Warhawk Classic Friday night at UW-Whitewater. The Eagles finished second with 132 team points while UW-Whitewater was first with 187. UW-Oshkosh placed third (106) followed by Augustana, Ill. (86), Wartburg (63), Loras (49) and UW-River Falls (17).

Four individuals captured titles Friday night for UW-L. Matt Gordy took the 55-meter dash (6.47) while David Kolbe captured the 400-meter dash (49.07). In field events, Dave Stauder won the high jump (6-4) for the Eagles while Jessie Dengsavang won the triple jump (47-5 3/4).

UW-L also won the 4x400-meter relay (3:18.97).

Other top finishes on the track included: Jon Doble placing second (49.52), Alex Rooker fourth (50.06) and Dylan Randolph fifth (50.06) in the 400-meter dash. Jamar Jackson finished fourth on the 55-meter hurdles (7.91). Kevin Oelstrom was fourth (14:32.16) and Paul Zdroik fifth (14:32.67) in the 5,000-meter run while Sean Harrington was fifth in the 3,000-meter run (8:59.09).

In field events, Andrew Brueggen was second in the weight throw (54-2 1/2) for the Eagles while Aaron Johnson placed fourth (47-6 1/2) and Bill Warren fifth (46-8) in the shot put.

Jordan Young was fourth in the long jump (21-8 3/4) while Joel Nernberger was fifth in the high jump (5-6) and Anthony Hasse fifth in the triple jump (43-11 3/4).
