UW-L Wins All Four Matches at North-South Duals; Eagles Compete at Flanagan Open

Collegeville, Pa./Dubuque, Iowa - The UW-La Crosse wrestling team competed at two meets Saturday. The Eagles improved to 14-0 on the season with four wins at the North-South Duals at Ursinus College in Collegeville, Pa. and also saw action at the Flash Flanagan Open at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa.
The Eagles, ranked third in the country, defeated sixth-ranked Delaware Valley College, Pa. (34-15), Johns Hopkins University, Md. (49-0), ninth-ranked The College of New Jersey (40-3) and 20th-ranked Wilkes University, Pa. (30-10) at the North-South Duals.
UW-L's Tim Palmer (165-pounds), Josh Chelf (174) and Josh Zabel (184) all went 4-0 Saturday. Chelf and Zabel won all four of their matches by fall. Palmer, currently ranked first in NCAA Division III at 165-pounds, earned a win by major decision (14-4) over 10th-ranked Justin Bonitatis of The College of New Jersey. He also had a victory by fall.
Chelf, also ranked first in the country, defeated seventh-ranked Greg Osgoodby of New Jersey by fall (2:04).
Jordan Kolinski (133-pounds) went 3-0 for the Eagles, earning one win by fall. Ranked fifth at 133, he defeated seventh-ranked Ray Sarinelli of New Jersey by decision (7-3).
Jay Milz (157-pounds), Cory Ferguson (157) and Andy Moore (197) all went 2-0 for the Eagles with Moore recording one victory by fall. Currently unranked at 197-pounds, Moore defeated sixth-ranked Joe West of Delaware Valley by fall (5:46).
Kevin Barber (141), Eric Seppelt (149) and Dan Laurent (285) all finished 3-1 Saturday. Seppelt, unranked at 149, beat 10th-ranked Erik Smith of Wilkes by decision (9-4) while Laurent earned three wins by fall.
Brandon Music finished 2-1 overall, winning both of his matches at 125-pounds while dropping his match at 133. Tim Winker went 1-1 at 197-pounds for UW-L with his victory coming over 10th-ranked Tyler Schmidt of Johns Hopkins by major decision (11-3). Winker is currently ranked ninth in NCAA III.
Pat Parrillo went 0-2 at 125-pounds.
At the Flash Flanagan Open, no team scores were kept. UW-L had four wrestlers place, including Dan Schulte who finished third at 174-pounds with a 3-1 record. He earned one victory by fall. Zach Strickland finished fourth at 197-pounds with a 2-2 mark while Hakan Binek was fifth at 285 with a 3-2 record and Zeb Secrist placed sixth at 149 with a 3-3 finish.
Jake Lewis (149), Brad Masche (157) and Jeff Erkel (165) all finished 1-2 for the Eagles. Lewis recorded his win by fall.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, January 12 at the NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals at the University of Northern Iowa.
